Ode to the May Queen
Upon a throne of moss and vine,
Where morning mist and light entwine,
She calls the blossoms from their sleep
And seedlings buried cool and deep.
Her magic touches stream and dale.
It speaks of spring’s eternal tale.
Her scepter is a willow wand,
That wakes the life in tree and pond.
The orchard boughs burst into bloom,
To banish every trace of gloom;
Through sunlit rain and morning dew,
The ancient world is born anew.
